... and will be back soon! I am hoping to return to Cornwall next week but only for a couple of weeks as I'm not ready to leave Libby for the whole summer. I'll go back to Surrey for another two weeks or so while she takes her exams and then, if all is well, drive back to Cornwall and pick up where I left off on 11th April.
On that very day I had the most lovely walk from Lizard Point to Church Cove. The weather got better and better the further I walked and the sea looked positively Mediterranean. I love these pictures so I'm posting them all!
There was plenty of wildlife to see as well. Bunnies in fields, butterflies galore and an adder! I had just been thinking what perfect weather it was for adders to be basking when one crossed right in front of my path. Luckily I had my camera in my hand. After I had snapped it I felt a little dazed though: Never seen one before and hadn't really expected to see one during my walk.
Some beautiful flora as well.
I walked passed Bass Point and then followed the path round behind the lifeboat station, built by Bam Nuttall, the civil engineering company I worked for last year. The public parts were closed for viewing due to refurbishment work but I'll go back again when it reopens.
Beautiful views whichever direction you look.
At Church Cove I headed up the road to Lizard, stopping off at the way at lovely St Wynwallow Church. The most southerly church on mainland Britain.
I took the time to sit down and have a little chat. Not a prayer, just a little "happy with my life" "all going good" little word to myself. Wended my way back to the village and stopped to enjoy the sunshine and an apple juice at Coast. Ten minutes later I was back at the lighthouse. As I walked into the kitchen my mobile reconnected to the internet, a whatsapp message pinged and my world changed in an instant:
Libby was involved in a hit and run accident in Cambodia and suffered three skull fractures, a frontal contusion, broken arm and numerous cuts and bruises. Within an hour I had booked a flight to Gatwick and 36 hours later I was at Libby's bedside in Phnom Penh. Six weeks on Libby is recovering really well and, even though she doesn't think so, has been incredibly lucky. She still tires very easily and has no sense of taste or smell but her arm is mending well and she should be driving again within the next week. This blog is about my adventures in Cornwall but Libby's accident made me realise that my priority will always be Cam and Libby. See you soon Cornwall.
Love from The Lizard Girl.
