Around the middle of the week it started to dawn on me that I have limited time left here in Cornwall. I wanted to revisit some favourites and attempt to tick off the last "must sees" on my list before I went into full pack-up and ship out mode.
Thursday saw me heading back to St Agnes. I really took a shine to this pretty village on my first visit and Chapel Porth is one of my favourite beaches. However I also want to drive up to St Agnes Head as well as see the other village beach.
The weather was warmer than it looked and, although it was a little blustery getting out of the car, by the time I had walked down to Trevaunance Cove it was lovely. I took a stroll along the beach and then sat on a bench in a sheltered sun-trap chatting to a lady who is waiting for the Universe to give her a sign that the time is right to move from Eastbourne to St Agnes. I get that.
Before lunch I wanted to take a look at the view from St Agnes Head but by the time I pulled into the car park, this happened:
So I drove back into the village and, bizarrely, the rain stopped. It was already nearly two o'clock and the only place I could find was a coffee shop so lunch was hot chocolate and a slice of cake. I had a little lookie round the shops, found a couple of Christmas gifts (I know, ssssh) and then headed down to Chapel Porth. I love the descent to the beach. I hope I never tire of that first glimpse of the sea.
And the lovely combination of gorse and heather.
The sea was much rougher today. The plan had been to have a legendary hedgehog ice-cream sitting on the beach but I was just too full and the wind was just, well, too windy, so I headed back towards St Agnes Head and found Wheal Coates. I really love the composition of this photo.
I would also really like this selfie if only there wasn't someone in a blue anorak in the background!
With another successful mission accomplished I headed for home.
Love from The Lizard Girl
