When Libby and Annie came to stay

After Libby's exams had finished and I'd done a few days work I suggested that Libby come with me to Cornwall and bring a friend as well. So Libby and Annie drove back with me on Monday, 29th June. Apart from being a little cramped and taking the wrong exit slip from our second pit-stop (resulting in driving an extra 45 miles as it took me far too long to realise what I'd done) we arrived at Lizard in time for a late lunch. So after a quick freshen-up it was straight down to Polpeor Cafe. It was an odd afternoon weather-wise - overcast but very warm and still - not usual Lizard weather at all.

Whilst the rest of the UK was set for one of the hottest days on record on Wednesday, the forecast for Cornwall was rather grim so when Tuesday dawned hot and sunny we made the most of it and headed over to Gwithian Towans on the north coast. A three mile stretch of sand which I had only been to out of season I loved it all wild and windy so figured it had to be even better under blue sunny skies. I was right.

Looking right towards Godrevy Lighthouse

And so began a blissful day of sunbathing, paddling (me), splashing (the girls) and eating; a delicious lunch at Sunset Surf sitting out on the deck.

Whilst I was paddling I came across this moon jelly...

... but it didn't stop the girls going in.

And the RNLI were on hand just in cases.
These ones

Not these ones

Our lovely day ended with bottles of refreshing water but no ice-creams as we were too full from lunch.
